What makes Blabble special?
- Blabble is unique in several ways. First, Blabble can display multiple sources (iMessage, WhatsApp, and email, coming soon) within a single conversation. There is no need to remember where a message was received. Regardless of the platform, it appears in Blabble.
- Because all your messages are centralized in Blabble, searches are performed across all your messages at once.
- Archiving becomes easier and more consistent by design, thanks to Blabble’s centralized approach.
- Exporting conversations (PDF, CSV) from multiple sources helps bring your archives to life and allows you to present information more efficiently, particularly when dealing with legal or compliance matters.
- Following a train of thought is much easier when you can view an entire conversation in one place, regardless of the platform it originated from.
Blabble deals with sensitive information. Should I be concerned?
- You are absolutely right to be concerned about your personal information. Blabble takes privacy very seriously.
- Blabble does not send any of your data outside your computer. No messages, no contact information, nothing.
- All data is stored locally in your personal user account on your Mac, alongside your other personal information.
- Blabble requests permission when accessing your messages and cannot access any data without your explicit consent. Unlike applications that require full disk access, Blabble only requests access to the specific data it needs.
- For each source, Blabble clearly shows what it has access to and allows you to revoke that access at any time.
How do I extract messages from my iPhone?
- Connect your device to your computer. Make sure you tap Trust This Computer when prompted on your device.Connect your device to your computer. Make sure you tap Trust This Computer when prompted on your device.
- If you are in the onboarding guide of Blabble, click Next until you are presented with the screen “Add Your First Blabble Source.”
- Alternatively, choose Blabble -> Blabble Sources from the menu.
- Add a description to your source, for example “iMessage Jack.”
- Choose the platform (iMessage or WhatsApp).
- Choose the platform type “Mobile Device.”
- Choose the device. This list shows the available devices. If you cannot see your device, reconnect it to your Mac and make sure to tap “Trust This Computer” if prompted on your device.
- For Backup Location, leave it as is or select a different location if you do not want to use Blabble’s default location, for example an external hard drive.
- For “Encrypt Backup”, if you are using a backup location on your Mac, it is generally safe not to use encryption, as FileVault is enabled by default on macOS. If you choose an external hard drive, prefer encryption.
- For “Discard Backup”, if you are low on storage space, choose discard. Keep in mind that the full backup size will still be required initially. If you do not discard the backup, subsequent refreshes will be much faster.
- Finally, click “Continue.”
What is the difference between the source types “Mobile Device” and “Desktop Application”?
- Messaging apps such as WhatsApp and iMessage can exist on both your mobile device and your desktop as separate applications.
- When you import messages from a mobile device, Blabble needs to trigger a backup to extract the content. When importing from a desktop application, Blabble can access the data directly after you grant permission to access those platforms.
- This means that refreshing from a mobile device requires a new backup sync, whereas when using a desktop application, Blabble can instantly detect changes and update.
- If you plan to use Blabble on a daily basis as part of your workflow, we highly recommend using a desktop application as the Blabble source type
- Note that when using a desktop application for iMessage, iMessage does not need to run in the background, whereas WhatsApp does need to be running in the background.
I can see that Blabble’s domain extension is .ai. Why?
- The .ai domain does not mean Blabble uses AI to process your messages today. Message extraction, indexing, and storage are fully deterministic and do not involve artificial intelligence.
- For future email features, AI may be used to assist with tasks such as summarisation or categorisation. These features are not active today.
- Any AI features introduced will use on-device AI only. Your data will not be uploaded to external AI services for processing.
- We will be explicit and transparent about how AI is used in future updates. AI-related features will be clearly described before you enable them.
- Users will be clearly informed of changes involving AI and will retain control over whether those features are used.
How are conversations grouped?
- Blabble offers two ways to view your conversations. Go to Blabble -> Settings -> General -> Group Conversations.
- When Group Conversations is off, Blabble uses the original conversations from each platform. This means that if you have two distinct conversations with the same participants on different platforms, each platform’s conversation will be shown separately.
- When Group Conversations is on, Blabble aggregates conversations across platforms that have the exact same participants into a single conversation.
- When Group Conversations is on and you have granted Blabble access to your contacts, Blabble uses all known handles for a contact (such as email addresses and phone numbers) to group messages into one conversation.
